Writing
Students will review for their supporting detail test, which will be on Tuesday.  We will complete our DEUILI warmup on Wednesday and learn the  Latin root AQUA on Thursday.  We will write our on-demand on Wednesday and Thursday about whether or not plastic straws should be banned.  We will review parts of speech on Friday and write in our journals.

Spelling words
No spelling this week!

Science
In science, we are learning about the scale of the universe, moon phases, and more! We will have our moon phase quiz next Tuesday. Here’s the link: https://quizlet.com/59764411/moon-phase-cycle-flash-cards/

Social Studies

In social studies we have finished up our Bill of Rights Unit and are beginning our dive into geography.  Google has an awesome free program called Google Earth that the students can explore our world’s geography at their own pace.  It should be a quick download even with slower to moderate internet speeds.  Google Maps is another free tool that the students can access on their tablets/smart phones.  No quizzes this week except for a retake for the Bill of Rights quiz.  The retake will be this Wednesday during Bearcat Special time.

Math
We will have a test this Friday. Study guides are extra credit and are due Friday.  You can also use Quizlet to study.

This week in Reading:
This week in reading we will continue to work on main idea and supporting details in non-fiction. Students will have a quiz on Friday. There will not be a study guide sent home, as the quiz is all application. Students will get to shop at the Scholastic Book fair on Monday! Visit the library webpage for more information!

Reading homework policy: Students will be given a homework assignment every Monday, and it is due on Friday. If a student finishes early he or she may turn it in at any time. Late assignments will be accepted, however students will lose a point each week the assignment is late. The title of this week’s homework assignment is “What’s a Yankee Doodle?’

Help our classroom earn FREE books! When you place a Scholastic Book order, our class gets points to be used towards free books! Students will be given a brochure with books, or you can browse books atscholatic.com/bookclubs. If you do not already have an account you can create one for free. Connect your account with our class by entering the class code TJQDZ.
