Thursday, October 10

Here’s something you didn’t know you knew:  Today is National Angel Food Cake Day and the state bird of New Mexico is the Greater Roadrunner.

This year’s shanty town experience begins this evening at 7 in room 404 and will conclude after the overnight at the complex when school begins tomorrow.  A reminder to all participants, you are responsible for all school work and expected to stay, the full school day… no whining.

Any students in grades 11-12 who are interested in learning more about a career in manufacturing should attend the manufacturing day field trip on 10.25. See Mrs. Hester for a permission form.


Students interested in traveling to Portugal and Spain need to see Mrs. Teepen. Students receive $100 off if they sign up by this Friday, October 11th

Auditions for the Children’s play “Gingerbread Girl” will be held October 22 from 3-5 in room 404.  This will be performed at and for the elementary school December 3.

Any student who is looking for leadership experience or a fun way to be involved should consider applying to be a PTSA Student Ambassador. You can pick up the application in the HS office. Completed applications are due by Friday, 10/11. 

Athletic Announcements:

 ·   The Girls Soccer team lost in the District Finals to Simon Kenton last night. 

o   The Girls Soccer team will play in the Regional tournament on Monday, site, time, and opponent to be determined on Sunday.

·   The Freshman, JV & Varsity Volleyball teams all defeated Boone County last night.

o   Tonight the volleyball teams host NCC, and tonight is senior night for the varsity volleyball team.  Games tonight start at 5:30

This year’s shanty town experience will be on Thursday, October 10th beginning at 7pm in room 404 with a fantastic presentation from the Emergency Shelter of Northern KY and then overnight at the Sports Complex.  The cost to participate is $5 and permission slips are available from Mr. Kneisley. Permission slips and the $5 are due Today..

If you cannot attend Wednesday's meeting, see Mrs. Mayer during the school day Thursday for important info.

·   Hannah Hall plays in the 2nd day of the KHSAA Girls Golf State Tourney today.  She is in 39th place out of over 140 golfers starting the day. 

·   The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Grant county 10-0 last night in the semifinals of the District Tourney, the girls face Simon Kenton tonight at SK at 6:00 in the finals.

·   The Freshman, JV & Varsity Volleyball teams host Boone County tonight at 5:30

Attention FBLA members:  Deadlines are important in business.  FBLA dues are due by 3pm on Friday, October 4.  Late dues will not be accepted.


Any student in grades 9 & 10 who is interested in attending technical school as a junior should stop by the guidance office for a permission slip to go on a visit to the school to learn more about their programs and opportunities. The trip is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22.

·        The Walton-Verona Athletic Department would like to congratulate Hannah Hall for earning a golf scholarship to Division I NKU!!! 

·        Tonight is Homecoming for the Varsity Football game.  Kickoff is at 7:30 v. district rival Carroll County

This year’s shanty town experience will be on October 10th beginning at 7pm in room 404 with a fantastic presentation from the Emergency Shelter of Northern KY and then overnight at the Sports Complex.  The cost to participate is $5 and permission slips are available from Mr. Kneisley. Permission slips and the $5 are due Monday, October 7.

Students interested in traveling to Portugal and Spain next summer, there will be a parent meeting this Thursday, October 3rd in the Multi-Purpose Room at 6pm. For more information, please see Mrs. Teepen.

The One Acts are here!  Tonight at 7 pm in the commons!  You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll Watch the 3 headed pig battle the wolf-a-bot in a cage match of terror; Watch Snow White in a Kung Fu showdown… and did I forget to mention cannibalism?  Admission is free though a donation is encouraged. Tell your family, bring 50 of your closest friends.

·   The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Villa Madonna in exciting fashion last night 2-1. Lightener’s goal with under 2 minutes left gave the girls the victory on senior night!

o   The JV Girls Soccer team fell to Villa 2-1

·   The Freshman, JV & Varsity Girls Volleyball teams host Simon Kenton tonight for their annual Volley for the Girls with a pink out theme, first game is at 5:30.  All proceeds from tonight‘s match will go towards chicks in Chuck’s.

·   The JV and Varsity Boys Soccer teams travel to Holmes tonight at 6:00
