Yearbooks will be on sale during lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Bring your money and secure your 2020-2021 yearbook! The cost is $55. Pay in person with cash or check made out to Walton-Verona Yearbook. Buy online to pay with a card.

Wednesday, April 14

Here’s something you didn’t know you knew:  Today is National Dolphin Dan and Ex Spouse Day and, the state bird of Nevada is the Mountain Bluebird.

Almost all of the senior citizens who have benefited from Wake Up Walton have signed up!  Now we need the volunteers to sign up!  Please form a team or you can join as an individual and we’ll place you on one.  You can stop in the front office to get a sign up sheet.  In order to get the free t-shirt, you need to sign up by Wednesday, April 28.

Prom is Friday, April 23rd 9-midnight at the Prickle Barn in Verona. 

Prom tickets are on sale this week. Tickets are $30 cash or check. See Mrs. Mahoney or Mrs. Koester before or after school to purchase your ticket.

Project Prom is Friday 4/23 from midnight -4am here at school.  All juniors and seniors are invited!  You do not have to attend the prom to attend project prom.  See Mrs. Mayer to sign up for a fun evening of games and prizes!

The annual WVHS Talent Show is May 7th at 7 PM in the Commons.  Auditions for this year’s talent show are April 22nd from 3-5 in the Commons. The sign-up sheet is posted on the band room door.

Athletic Announcements:

· NCKC Tennis Tournament:  The doubles teams of Josie I. and Ashley A. advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament where they will take on fellow Bearcats Chevy V. and Zadie D.. Victoria I. and Abby M. were both victorious in their first round matches. Good day for the lady Bearcats!

o   Today the Varsity Boys Tennis team will be in action at the sports complex in the NCKC Tournament first round.

· Track results from Grant County:

o   Girls Winners Drohan 100 4*200- Evans, Neace, Bowlin, Drohan 4*100- Gamm, Neace, Bowlin, Drohan 4*400- Bowlin, Hensley, Shearer, Sams 400- Hensley 200- Waters,  High Jump- Evans

o   Boys Winners:  Dingus 110Hurdles/High Jump, Perry 100/200 4*200- Dingus, Ferguson, Shay, Perry 4*100- Burch, Stanley, Shay, Ferguson;  300Hurdles- Shay

Varsity Softball team defeated Eminence 5-3 in 9 innings last night in the opening round of the 8th Region All “A” Tournament.

o   The softball team will play at Eminence on Thursday in the Semi Finals of the 8th Region Tournament.

· The Varsity Baseball team improved to 7-1 on the year with a win over Williamstown 11-0 yesterday in the first round of the 8th Region All A Tournament:

o   Travis S. threw his third consecutive no-hitter tonight against Williamstown striking out 16 batters in the first round of the all a tournament.

The Bearcats host the All A Semi Finals today at 5:30 v. Carroll County.

Here’s something you didn’t know you knew:  Today is Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, Ramadan begins at sundown and the state bird of Montana is the Western Meadowlark.

Athletic Announcements:

·Over the weekend the Boys and Girls Track teams competed in the Coaches Classic at Taylor HS in Ohio

o   The Boys were led by 1st place finishes from Zane P. in the 200 and 400 and Christian D. in the 110 and 300 Hurdles.  Sophomore Grady S. also finished 2nd in the 110 Hurdles for the Bearcats.

o   On the Girls side, Maggie B. led the way taking 2nd at Shot Put.  High Jumper Natalie H. finished in 3rd overall with a leap of 4 feet 8 inches and both the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams finished in third.

o   The Bearcats are back in again Tuesday for a meet a Grant County.  Great job to all!

· The Varsity Softball team plays in the 8th Region All “A” Tournament tonight at Eminence.

· The Varsity Baseball team had a great Spring Break.  They now stand 6-1 on the season, with a big district win over Simon Kenton.

o   The Varsity Baseball team plays in the 8th Region All “A” Tournament tonight at Williamstown
