Here’s something you didn’t know you knew:  Today is National Nurses Day and the state bird of Texas is the Mockingbird.

The WVHS Talent Show is FRIDAY at 7:00pm! Purchase tickets at http://our.show/wvhstalent !! Seats are limited. Tickets are $5 plus fees online or $7 in person. See Mr. Batteiger or Mrs. Core-Stine if you have any questions. 

Saturday, May 8, is the date for the 13th annual Wake Up Walton-Verona.  If you or your child is signed up for this important service project, please be at the rear parking lot of the high school at 8:30.  Free breakfast is provided while teams are signing in and t-shirts are distributed.  If students need a ride to the home of their assignment, we will have a bus driver for that purpose. All participants are responsible for their own transportation home after they’re done (around noon).  Please bring your own hand gardening tools and gloves.  

Sophomore, Anna W., is organizing a drive to help the homeless and those in need. Donations will be accepted until May 14th. Items that you can donate will be posted on your grade level google classrooms. You can drop off any donations in the box outside of the high school office by the TV, or talk to Anna.


Senior shirts will be on sale until Friday May 7th. See Coach Coleman or Mrs. Horn to place your order. T shirts are $10

All talent show performers must attend a MANDATORY rehearsal on May 5th from 3:00-5:00pm. The Talent Show is May 7th in the WV Commons!

Athletic Announcements:

·   Last night the Boys and Girls Track Teams competed at Campbell County.

o   The girls were led by Caileigh W. winning the 200 Dash.  Maggie B. taking both the shot and discus events. Kassidy E. leaping to a win in Long Jump and the 4x400 relay team of Lindsey B., Dixie H., Ella S. and Emily B.

o   The boys were led by thrower Caleb G. winning the Discus.  Junior Christian D. won both the 110 Hurdles and High Jump.  Zane P. took home the victory in the 400. Seth C. won the 800 meter run. Distance runner, Isaac T. won the 1600.  Finally, the boys relays teams of Bryson S., Zane P., Trey F. and Christian D. won the 4x1, the relay team of Justin P., Alex B., Davis F. and Seth C. won the 4x200 and the relay team of Isaac T., Davis F., Seth C. and Alex B. won the 4x4.

o   Great Job to all!

·   The Varsity Baseball team plays in the All “A” State Finals tonight at Louisville Holy Cross v. Owensboro Catholic.

· On Friday the Baseball team beat Owen County tonight 10-0. Carson P. got the win on the mound going five strong innings and giving up only one hit, striking out seven

· The Varsity Softball team defeated Gallatin County 16-2 on Saturday.
